The Yellowbird Labor of Good Taste and Real-Food Love project by myself and my partner George Milton. This seed of an idea was planted in early 2012 after we each decided we wanted to see better from our packaged food brands. 

We demanded better quality ingredients where there were none. 

We demanded distinct and unforgettable flavors that would beat homemade. 

We demanded the artwork on the package be as unique and approachable as we were, and still are.

We dreamt of building a community around a shared belief, not just another product, but a brand that stood for something. That provided people with a reason to be inspired to show up for the work day after day with gusto.

So with our powers in culinary and design combined, we made something the world didn’t know it wanted until it saw the bottle on the local co-op shelf, brought it home, and drizzled it onto their eggs. 

This is only a snippet of the Yellowbird distinctive brand assets. What’s not shown is all the planning, the strategy, the budgets, the coordination, the building of a team, the production — all the tiny peices of a business that are required simply to stay alive. 

This has been a 13 year Labor-of-Love story with twists and turns and a plot that deepens every year. Only the Founders know the whole story. It runs deeper than you think. Perhaps I’ll write a book about it one day.

But for now, as with anything we create, it’s important to remember, it’s all fleeting. So, be the Bird and keep on flying.
